Are you transitioning from working in an office to working from home?
We’re making this transition. Big time.
Our company is becoming a “fully distributed team”, which means that we will no longer have an official office. We’ll all 18 of us work exclusively from home. We’re so 21st century, right?
It sounds great, until you realize you are both space and budget challenged. In fact, one of our team members needed to set up her new home office in a corner of her bedroom and she had less than $500 to spend- including furniture.
We decided to take this as a challenge and headed out to our favorite place (Target! Surprise!) on a mission to surprise our Penelope sister by creating a perfectly pretty and organized home office, with everything from desk to file folders with a budget of $500.
I think our absolute favorite part of this set up is that it’s at a standing desk. The comfy stool gives you the ability to sit, but, when you get tired of that, put it to the side and you can work form a standing position. This is all because we chose a Pub Bar Table as the “desk”. And it’s so much less expensive than a true “standing desk”, which can run into the several hundreds.
And, since sitting is the new smoking, we thought we should come up with a lower-budget solution. We did!
