Now that’s a Smart Pen: A pen that records audio as you write

December 7, 2009

This falls into the category of “Why the HECK Didn’t They Have This When I Was a Kid?”

Saw this pen initially on HiTech Mommy’s Blog (which is great – you should visit – later.) It’s a Pulse Smart pen that records audio as you write. So, you take notes and later, by tapping on the text, you can listen back to what was being said at that moment. Useful, huh?

For kids, the application is obvious: no more missing that important bit of information just because your friend is chatting in your ear.

But, for adults, I think the applications are pretty awesome, too. I know I’d love to have this when I run Staff Meetings, it would be great to have an audio record of all we discuss, as things get pretty detailed.

Or, what about for meetings with your tax guy, your financial advisor or the contractor for your kitchen remodel? Just take notes with the Smart Pen and you can readily pull up all that was being said in the moment. No more relying on your ever-failing memory! Nice.

I guess I should stop wishing they had this in 1989 and just be glad we can have it now.
